Training

INITIATION IN ECOLOGY AND BOTANY
(Promonature - Briant - France)

During this training students will:

  • Learn the basics of botany
  • Study the elementary concept of ecology
  • Make the link between the natural system and agricultural practices
  • Study legislation on the protection of species

in order to understand the relationship between the different elements of the environment, to be able to draw up a diagnosis of the land on their farm, and to be able to put into practice a durable farming program that is consistent with their environment.

Training will take place over three or four day sessions (or two, two day sessions), according to the program followed, which includes visits to different terrain and farms :

Day one
 
  • Presentation of the training, the work and activity of Promonature.
  • Introduction of the concept of species evolution, initiation in botany
  • Introduction to the idea of the natural environment, biotopes and species diversity.
  • Some species recognition, the study of their role with regard to the soil, and their uses.

Day two
 
  • Study of a link of evolution illustrating the idea of the cycle.
  • The concept of flowers and fruit, adapted to the environment will be approached. The study of the different natural cycles.
  • Ecology and natural system functions from the simplest (prairies, forests) to the most sophisticated (peat bogs, alluvial valleys).
  • Ecology and function of an environment created by man: hedged farmland.
  • Bibliography.

Day three
 
  • The study of soil indicator plants, to be able to make a diagnosis of the composition of the soil and its previous cultivation in order to plan the planting of associated cultures or crop rotations.
  • Introduction to legislation on the protection of species. Presentation of rare species and/or regionally protected species.
  • Medicinal, nutritional and melliferous plants.

Promonature will use its own training aids: Projectors, slide shows, flora and various other supports.

These lectures will be in the French language

Possibility of a minimum standard charge for an on-going training program.
